High Knob Hellbender 10K 10 a.m. Climb to the highest point in the Cumberland Mountains. This race climbs more than 2,000 feet in elevation from downtown Norton to the 4,200-foot High Knob summit. Haunted Troll Trail 5K and 1 Mile Candy Run 1 Mile Candy Run Race Starts at 5:00PM for ages 6-10 1 mile race where children have the option to dress up and collect candy along the .5 mile out and back course. Medals will be awarded for each age division and group (1st-3rd). Best costume prizes will be awarded. Haunted Troll Trail 5K Race starts at 5:30 PM This is the 3rd Annual Haunted Troll Trail 5K benefiting the Union High School Wrestling team. The race starts and finishes at the Powell River Trail head in Appalachia, VA. This will be a fun out and back course that is perfect for all experience levels. This paved course that will take your through two old train tunnels! Runners are encouraged to dress up and try to win the best costume awards. Runners are also encouraged to bring something to collect candy as there will be people handing out candy along the course. All proceeds go to the Hope House of Kingsport, which helps men and women in crisis who are expecting a baby. Bridge & Trestle 17 Miler The 2023 Bridge & Trestle 17 Mile Run (a free event) will be held on Sunday, December 10th and this year is a down year. YES!! We will be running down from Whitetop Station to Damascus. Race day registration and packet pickup will begin at 8:30AM at Creeper Trail Cottages in Damascus. The race will start at 10:00AM. To continue our effort in keeping our beautiful trail clean and free of any trash, we're going cupless again this year. To help with this effort, everyone will receive a reuseable, easy to carry, collapsible cup to add to your swag collection. You will be able to use this cup (or your own hydration system) during the race at our three aid stations. Awards will be given to the overall male and female finishers. We will have a post-race party with refreshments and water available. This run is part of the State of Franklin Track Club Trail Series and Long Distance Series competitions.
