Approval of Minutes: Jason Goodman stated that the final draft minutes of the September meeting had been sent to each member of the Board and asked if there were any additions or corrections. There being none, the minutes of the meeting were, upon motion duly made and seconded, approved as presented.

Nominations and Election of Board Members – The ballots are ready for mailing. Enclosed with the ballots will be membership renewal forms and information regarding upcoming races. Ballots should be returned to the Board no later than November 15. The Board briefly discussed various qualifications and processes for determining awards recipients.
Tennessee State Parks Running Tour – Bob Townsend announced the 2010-2011 Tour began on October 9th with the Rock Island 5 Miler and will conclude on March 5th with the Fall Creek Thaw 15K. The Tour includes a total of 20 races, three of which are SFTC races; Roan Mountain 10K on 10/23, Pioneer 5 Miler on 12/18, and The War Party 10K on 1/29.
Race Walk Report – Jason Goodman shared Ruth Ketron’s Race Walk report. Ruth reported that Apple Festival 2 Mile Walk had 47 participants. Sandra Vance and Barbara Taylor placed 3rd and 1st, respectively, in their age-groups. The USATF 5K National Champioship Racewalk was Saturday, October 9th. Ruth Ketron and Barbara Taylor placed 1st and 3rd, respectively, in their age-groups.
Chip Timing System - Matthew Studholme reported that the MiniTrack timing system from Chronotrack is currently on backorder. Hank Brown and Tyler Hobbs of We Run Events was at the meeting and requested to have a separate meeting with the Board to discuss opportunities for the SFTC and We Run Events to work together on the chip timing system. After a brief discussion, the Board agreed to schedule a meeting with We Run Events for such discussion.
Equipment Update - Donna Bays reported that all equipment is in working order. Equipment rental has been very steady through the summer and we have only a couple of outstanding invoices.
Race Management Policies – The Board discussed the policy that requires organizers of new races who want to hire SFTC for finish line management to present the event to the SFTC Board 4-months in advance. The Board members were reminded that a majority vote of the Board is required for SFTC to agree to provide finish line management for new races.
King & Queen Competition - The Board received a request to add the Red, White, and Boom! 4 Miler as a King & Queen race in 2011. After much discussion and motions duly made and seconded, the Board agree to add the Red, White, and Boom! 4 Miler as a King & Queen race beginning in 2011. The list of 2011 King & Queen races will be finalized at the November Board meeting.
SFTC Awards Banquet – The Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, December 4th at The Red Room in Blountville. Oscar Wagner announced this will be the last year he serves as coordinator for the event.
Volunteers for Races – The Board discussed our volunteer point system and the recent difficulties of having enough volunteers to assist with finish line management. After considerable discussion, it was agreed that more information/communications regarding SFTCs specific needs for volunteers is necessary. Donna Bays agreed to write an article to be posted on the SFTC web site.
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned. The next Board meeting will be held on November 18, 2010 at the Eastman Employee Center.
