Bobby Baker

Bobby Baker has over 20 years of service to the State of Franklin Track Club. Baker is most recognized for submitting bids for the USA Track & Field 5K Racewalk Championship which he directed for 22 years from 1993 through 2015 and which brought race walkers from all over the United States to Kingsport, Tennessee. Just one example of the impact of these races is that the 2001 event had race walkers from 24 states. The first and second place male walkers were both from California, while the first and second place female walkers were from Nevada and New York.

Baker was the Tennessee Race Walk Chairman from 1993 to 2018. Baker was the State of Franklin Track Club Race Walk Representative for 14 years. Baker was invited and competed in the World Masters 2011 Racewalk Championship in Sacramento, California. Baker was awarded the Mike Riban Race Walking Award as the Outstanding USATF Masters Race Walking Administrator in 2006. Baker was the assistant Coach for the USA Race Walk Athlete Tori Harazo at the 1996 Olympics held in Atlanta, GA. Baker taught race walking in Kingsport Adult Education Night Classes from 1993 to 2002. Baker attended the USATF conventions as the Tennessee Race Walk Chair for eight years. Baker competed in many local races plus many on the national scene.
